History
River City Villagers was formed on April 11, 1992 when thirty collectors met to talk about their villages. Officers were selected, dues were established and a second meeting date was determined, at which time a name for the group would be chosen. It was decided to meet each quarter, publish a newsletter and conclude the year with a Christmas Gathering.
Through the years, changes have occurred and River City Villagers now has six meetings a year and publishes a bi-monthly newsletter, The Village Voice. At club meetings, members learn how to enhance their village display by making mountains, adding water, hiding light cords, and much more. We have guest speakers, including reps from Department 56, have display contests, play games, and have a lot of fun sharing and learning about our villages. We've taken road trips to visit some of our sponsors and the Department 56 showroom and have had parties including D56 Retirement, Halloween and Christmas parties.
The highlight of the year comes in December or January when several members open their homes and allow us to enjoy their villages during our annual Open House Tour. This is a "Don't Miss Event!"
